Level of Difficulty –Beginner/Intermediate
Yarn –Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable, color Tidal, 100% Acrylic; 270 yards/100 grams total, Medium Weight. Approximately used 75 yards
Hook and Notions – Size Hook:J/10 (6 mm), scissors, blunt needle
Measurement–Laying flat7 ½ -inches wide and 9 -inches tall (band to top)
Gauge – Band 7 hdc and 4 rows = 2 inches
Ch = chain
Sc = single crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
BLO = back loop only
Trc = treble crochet
Each Row of Band is worked in the back loop only unless otherwise stated
Chain 2 at beginning of band counts as a dc unless otherwise stated
Round 3, Chain 4 and trc in same stitch is (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) at beginning of round.
Row 1:(working in back bump only) hdc in each back bump across. Turn (8 hdc)
Row 2: (see pattern notes), Chain 2, hdc in each hdc across. Turn (8 hdc)
Rows 3-34: Repeat Row 2
Matching up both ends, sc ends together. DO NOT FASTEN OFF
Round 1: Chain 1, hdc in the same stitch as join, hdc in the end of each row around;
slip stitch in the top of the 1st hdc. (35 hdc)
Round 2: Chain 3, * skip the next 2 hdc, work 7 trc in the next hdc, skip the next 2 hdc, dc in the next hdc, * repeat form * to * around; ending with a slip stitch in the top of the chain 3. (6 shells, 6 dc)
Round 3: Chain 4, trc in the same stitch as the join, * skip the next 2 trc, dc in the next 3 trc, skip the next 2 trc, work (dc, ch 2, dc) in the next single double crochet, * repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch in the 2nd chain of the beginning chain.
(6 ch 2 sps, 6 sets of 3 dc)
Round 4: Slip stitch into chain 2 space, chain 1, work * 7 trc in the chain 2 space, skip the next dc, dc in the next, skip the next dc, * repeat from * to * around, ending with work 7 trc in the last chain 2 space; join with a slip stitch in the top of the beginning trc.
Round 5: Slip stitch into next trc, chain 3 in same stitch, work a dc in the next 2 trc, * skip the next 2 trc, work (dc, ch 2, dc) in the next single dc, skip next 2 trc, dc in the next 3 trc, skip the next 2 trc, * repeat from * to * around; join with a slip stitch in the top of the beginning chain 3.
Rounds 6–9:Repeat Rounds 4 and 5
Round 10: Chain 2, work a hdc in each stitch and chain around; join with a slip stitch in top of beginning chain 2.
Fasten off and leave tail long enough to pull the top of the beanie together.
Weave the tail through the hdc of Round 10, pull tight and fasten off.
